В декабре, во время работы на Московском Урбанистическом Форуме, мне довелось познакомиться с Томасом Мадрейтером. Томас возглавляет департамент градостроительства Вены и проект “Smart City Wien”. Конечно, я достаточно волновалась, узнав, что мне доведётся в течение форума быть ассистентом-переводчиком человека, занимающего такой высокий пост. Но я переживала напрасно: в жизни Томас оказался простым, общительным и интересным. Это был его первый визит в Москву и Россию вообще, поэтому в перерыве между мероприятиями форума Томасу было очень интересно погулять по городу и, как урбанисту, прокатиться в московском метро.

Кстати, при проведении небольшой обзорной экскурсии по подземке мне очень пригодились знания, полученные на экскурсии, организованной Департаментом культурного наследия города Москвы и Музеем Московского Метрополитена и субсидируемой Правительством Москвы.

"Smart city": the city of future

Last December, while working at Moscow Urban Forum, I had an opportunity to meet Thomas Madreiter. He is the City of Vienna's Director of Urban Planning and the head of “Smart City Wien” project. No doubt, I felt nervous a bit after I was told I was going to work as an assistant of such a top-level person. But there was no reason to be nervous: in life Thomas is very easygoing, sociable and interesting. It was his first visit to Moscow and to Russia, thus, during the spare time between forum events he looked forward to take a walk in the city center and, as an urbanist, he was keen to take a ride in the Moscow metro.

By the way, to host this mini-excursion in the metro the information I got to know on the excursion, which was organized by the Department of Cultural Heritage and the Moscow Metro Museum and subsidized by the Government of Moscow, came handy.

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia Day 3: Nikolay Krasnikov's «Sybille Diplomatique» for Fall/Winter 13/14

Every designer possesses a unique conception of a collection. Some represent paintings, others depict things and events and yet others – tell stories. 

Nikolay Krasnikov’s every collection is a character of a great woman with her destiny. It's no coincidence that the designer names his collections after them: Kschessinska, Princess Zoe, Sybille Diplomatique. All of the above are extraordinary personalities with vivid natures, front-women of their times who would go against foundations; they possessed great powers and influence over others by virtue of what they changed the course of history. This is also the type of a woman for whom designer sews: with a virile character, her own opinion, ambitious and knowing what she is worth. 

On March 31st at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia Nikolay introduced his new fall/winter 13/14 collection. The princess and the Lady-in-waiting of the Imperial Russian Court Dorothea Lieven – a spy and the first female diplomat ever – now stands alongside Mathilde Kschessinska and Zoe Paleologue. Alexander I called her Dorothea (not Darya on Russian manner) as there was some sort of invincibility and savageness in it. Alexandre Dumas, Honoré de Balzac, George Gordon Byron worshiped sense and beauty of Princess Lieven, née Benckendorff. Neither could resist her charm the most prudent statesmen: Metternich, George IV, Cunning and Guizot. And she in the meantime applied her thorough virile mind and insidious female speeches to receive secret information and send it to Russia. Lieven was the perfect weapon in the undercover battle and espionage.

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia Day 3: Nikolay Krasnikov's «Sybille Diplomatique» for Fall/Winter 13/14 (russian)

У каждого дизайнера существует своё, особое понятие о том, что такое коллекция. У одних это ожившие полотна, у других – изображение вещей и явлений, у третьих – некая история. 

У Николая Красникова каждая коллекция – образ великой женщины с её судьбой. Недаром дизайнер даёт коллекциям их имена: Кшесинская, Принцесса Зоя, дипломатическая Сивилла. Все они – незаурядные личности с яркими характерами, передовые женщины своего времени, ломавшие привычные устои, обладавшие огромным влиянием и властью и менявшие ход истории. Такова и девушка, для которой шьёт модельер: с сильным характером, своим мнением, целеустремлённая, знающая себе цену. 

31 марта на Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia Николай представил свою новую коллекцию сезона осень/зима 2013/14. В один ряд с Матильдой Кшесинской и Софьей Палеолог теперь встала княгиня и фрейлина Российского Императорского двора Дарья Ливен – шпионка и первая в истории женщина дипломат. Александр I звал её Доротеей – именем, в котором слышалось нечто неукротимое. Перед умом и красотой урождённой Бенкендорф благоговели Александр Дюма-отец, Оноре де Бальзак, Джордж Гордон Байрон. Не могли устоять перед её обаянием и самые холодные умы политических мужей: Меттерних, Георг IV, Каннинг и Гизо - а она тем временем использовала свой тонкий мужской ум и коварные женские речи, чтобы получать тайную информацию и передавать её в Россию. Ливен была совершенным оружием тайной борьбы и шпионажа.

HOT NEWS FROM MBFWR: Slava Zaytsev

The opening of the 26th season of the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia was marked by Slava Zaytsev’s show. The show gathered in the Moscow Manege a huge number of admirers of the talent of Russian Fashion’s Maestro. The designer remained true to himself and his vivid, recognizable style.

Открытие 26-ого сезона Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia было ознаменовано показом коллекции Вячеслава Зайцева. Показ собрал в ЦВЗ «Манеж» огромное количество почитателей таланта Мэтра русской моды. Дизайнер остался верен себе и своему яркому, узнаваемому стилю.

Human is God’s perfect creation. The Author has put in us the eternal aspiration for sophistication and beauty by virtue of both passive contemplation and creation.

I first became acquainted with Nikolay’s work when I saw his second collection. At that point I did not know it was inspired by Mathilde Kschessinska. The collection, undoubtedly, was a strinking difference to what is usually shown on cat-walks. It was chic, glamorous, feminine, bohemian and “touched” by past times or rather by an entire epoch. Despite these presences are old as the hills, Nikolay has managed to represent them in a totally fresh way, they gained new spirit. Special atmosphere and some drama reigned owing to what every single image was emphasized. This has destroyed the common idea of a collection which highlights solely the most remarkable outfits of all created. This drama created a feeling of a social event, where not a single person remains unspotted. Richness of fabrics, dramatic and vivid outfits could not leave a spectator unfazed. And sure enough I appreciate that Nikolay, unlike most Russian designers, does not try to escape in his work from Russian culture. On contrary, the designer has accentuated how beneficial and rich this source of inspiration is, its ability to be revealed in a different way by each creator. Whereas Zaytsev in my mind is bound with national costume features, Nikolay creates bohemian and poetic images which seem to have stepped down from Kramskoy’s painting or materialized from Blok’s lines.

Человек – совершенное творение Бога. И Создатель вложил в нас вечное стремление к совершенству и красоте, но не только через пассивное созерцание, но и созидание.

Впервые с творчеством Николая я познакомилась, когда увидела его вторую коллекцию. На тот момент я ещё не знала, что она была посвящена Матильде Кшесинкской. Коллекция, безусловно, сильно отличалась от того, что можно обычно увидеть на подиумах. Там был и шик, и роскошь, и гламур, и женственность, и богемность, и ещё определённое дыхание ушедшего времени или, скорее, целой эпохи. Пусть эти составляющие и стары как мир, но Николаю в своей коллекции удалось подать их совершенно иначе, благодаря чему они обрели новое звучание. Была особая атмосфера и некая театрализованность, что позволило сделать акцент на каждом образе. Это перечёркивало привычное понятие коллекции, где из всех созданных look'ов в памяти остаются лишь самые яркие. Театральность создавала ощущение светского раута, где ни одна персона не может остаться незамеченной. Богатство тканей и обилие деталей, драматичные яркие образы не могли оставить равнодушным человека. И, конечно, мне понравилось то, что Николай не пытается в своём творчестве отстраниться от русской культуры в отличие от многих отечественных дизайнеров. Напротив, модельер подчёркивает, что это очень благодатный и богатый источник вдохновения, который в руках каждого творца раскрывается по-разному. Если Зайцев ассоциируется у меня с чертами народного костюма в его традиционном понимании, то у Николая получилось нечто богемно-поэтическое, сошедшее с полотна Крамского или материализовавшееся из блоковских строк.

New York Fashion Week: Flora, Fauna, Renaissance

Last friday the last chords of New York fashion week faded away, making cameras’ lens focus on “Albion”, where London Fashion Week was about to start.
However, before I move on to covering the shows in “the city on the river Thamse”, I would like to make a sum up of the American “fellow”-week. New York Fashion Week has made a very pleasant impression on me. Zac Posen, Ralph Lauren, Donna Karan, Thome Brown, Marchesa – these are only several brands of those whose collections I liked most. Perhaps, I will return to them not once in future and dedicate separate articles to their collections.
While in this article I will expose my vision of the major trends offered to us by the most remarkable American designers.
Fashion, indeed, tends to decorativeness and splendor: embroideries, laces, patterned and “rich” fabrics. If you ask me to characterize this fashion week I shall only say three words: flora, fauna and Renaissance. Furs, animal prints, floral motives, abundance of details. Well, let’s take a closer look!

В пятницу отгремели последние аккорды недели моды в Нью-Йорке, и прицел объективов и камер переместился на Туманный Альбион, где стартовала London Fashion Week.
Всё же, перед тем, как освещать показы из «города на Темзе», я бы хотела подвести итоги американской соратницы. New York Fashion Week оставила у меня очень приятное впечатление. Zac Posen, Ralph Lauren, Donna Karan, Thome Brown, Marchesa – вот лишь некоторые бренды из тех, чьи коллекции запомнились мне больше всего. Вполне возможно, что я ещё не раз вернусь к ним и посвящу им отдельные записи.
В этой же я изложу своё видение основных трендов, которые предложили нам самые видные американские дизайнеры.
Мода, в самом деле, склонилась в сторону декоративности и пышности: вышивки, кружева, ткани с узорами, «богатые» материалы. Если попросите меня охарактеризовать эту неделю моды, ограничусь 3 словами: флора, фауна и Возрождение. Меха, «звериные» принты, цветочные мотивы, обилие деталей. Итак, смотрите сами:

Oscar de la Renta Fall 2013: the scent of Galliano.

I will not get distracted for lyrical digression and epithets how welcome the show was. They were so often mentioned today that have become beaten.

Some outfits from Oscar de la Renta’s show resurrected in my memory Galliano’s old works. Thus, a swirl of nostalgic reminiscences carried me away when I saw the jackets with draped necklines and narrow wastes – the classic Dior “Bar” silhouette.

Не стану отвлекаться на долгую лирику и уже ставшие банальными эпитеты о долгожданности показа.

Некоторые модели показа Oscar de la Renta вызвали в памяти прежние работы Гальяно. Так, ностальгические воспоминания вызвали жакеты с драпированными воротами и узкими талиями – классический диоровский силуэт «Бар».

Ambrosia

One of my favorite dishes is the amazing "Ambrosia" roulade. This is an exeptional fusion: cheese, figues and nuts. A whole range of taste spices: starting from the gentle saline-creamy top straight to the sweet with a slightly astringent scent "heart".

Одно из моих любимых блюд - рулет "Амброзия". Это очень необычное сочетание: сыр, инжир и орехи. И целая палитра вкусовых оттенков: от нежной солоновато-сливочной оболочки до сладкой, с нотами терпкости, сердцевины.

• 240 g - cottage-cheese spread // творожный плавленый сыр
• 240 g - cheese // ферментный сыр
• 133 g - walnuts // грецкие орехи
• 89 g - figues (I prefer adding more) // инжир (но я добавляю больше)
• 89 g - "feta" cheese or its any analogue // сыр фета или любой его аналог
• 89 g - butter // масло
• sliced almonds // миндальная стружка

It goes very well with white bread, red wine or pomegranate juice!

Он прекрасно сочетается с белым хлебом, красным вином или гранатовым соком!
